GREENBELT, MD – Blue Water, digital agency in the D.C. and Maryland regions, is pleased to bring back BOOTCAMP, a series of free educational seminars, to introduce and engage the diverse military community to various technical skillsets.
The fourth seminar in the series, “Accessibility 101,” will be held on Wednesday, October 21, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Blue Water Headquarters. It allows attendees—both online and in-person—to learn what user experience is; what makes a “good” user experience; what 508 compliance means; how it relates to accessibility; and how individuals can approach it with their own site and app designs and development in the future.
With “Accessibility 101,” attendees will be able to learn how to approach building a site from conception to creation with a more holistic mindset on how the Internet can be built for everyone. Furthermore, attendees will be able to expand their digital and technical abilities outside of code and into design.
The course is taught by Caroline Brunschwyler, Blue Water’s UX Designer, who has focused on Human-Centered Computing with years of experience researching the field of website accessibility. Caroline is invested in how these issues affect everyone, and works hard to ensure every site provides an amazing experience for all users.
“I’m excited to teach this BOOTCAMP because I want to help raise awareness for issues such as poor accessibility on the web, and help others tackle behind-the-scenes issues on the web that users face and experience daily.”
To participate, all eligible participants should register for this free seminar at http://www.bwm.com/bootcamp. There is also an option to attend virtually through an interactive webinar. Service members, veterans, military spouses, military retirees, and military dependents enrolled in high school who are interested in registering for this webinar can follow directions for online participation on the registration website.
