Blue Water Wins 3 Addys for Creative Agency Work
Blue Water is excited to announce that we have won a Gold Addy and 2 Silver Addys from the American Advertising Federation (AAF) of Baltimore #BMOREaddys last night. The award show was held at the Baltimore Museum of Industry which is an amazing building directly on the water in Locust Point. The weather was perfect and although we were nervous with anticipation we were honored just to be included with other top web agency’s and advertisers.

Our Gold Addy was for work with a nonprofit that is near and dear to our hearts here at Blue Water and that’s the American Lung Association. To better equip patients and caregivers with the information needed throughout lung cancer treatment, Blue Water produced an series of personable, immersive stop motion videos on treatment option and supportive care for the American Lung Association. By selecting stop motion, Blue Water acknowledged that the narrative arc would be better communicating serious information in a personal, approachable manner. Each video in the series also came with its own supplemental worksheet, detailing the phases and expectations throughout treatment to better support and empowers lung cancer patients and caregivers.
After releasing the videos to the public in early 2015, the American Lung Association and Blue Water have garnered serious praise for this production. The Director of the Center to Advance Palliative Care, Diane Meyer, said it was “the best video they’ve ever seen on palliative care.” The organization had promoted it with the #getpalliative Twitter handle, receiving hundreds of retweets and making it the most promoted video in the entire series.
In the business to business website category Blue Water won Silver for our work on Austal.com. As a global defense contractor, designer and manufacturer of defense and commercial ships for governments, navies and ferry operators, our challenge was to demonstrate the global scope of Austal while engaging with regional audiences where Austal’s core business units operated in the United States, Philippines and Australia.
Our solution was a new site architecture that showcased the Corporate site along with three sub-sites each with their own unique domains via a home page switcher to make it easy to navigate across all sites. With stunning imagery and videos provided by Austal, the site provides viewers with an impactful view of the Austal brand, its ships, systems, support and operations.
Our second Silver Addy was awarded for Better Markets from the Branded Content and Entertainment for Online Film, Video, and Sound over :60 seconds category. Our challenge was to convey the complexity and impact of the 2008 financial collapse and the subsequent reforms and regulations.
The solution was a metaphorical short film that helps Better Markets explain their purpose of building a more secure financial system for all Americans and who pays the ultimate price when Wall Street’s biggest banks ignore the rules of the road .
