Washington, DC – (April 28, 2010) NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office recently launched a redesigned website which enlivens its environmental products and services. The organization works to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay by focusing on fisheries, habitat, observations, and education. The website’s new graphical interface and user friendly functionality will surely promote the responsible management of the Chesapeake Bay and help educate the public about how their decisions and actions affect the health of the Bay.
The new website brings the Chesapeake Bay to life with images, maps, and information about the Bay. The website opens with a picture slideshow of life in and around the Chesapeake Bay. Inscribed on the images are the three words which encapsulate the organization’s mission: Science, Service, & Stewardship. Immediately below the slideshow lies a Hot Topics section which details the latest Bay issues. Below the Hot Topics section is the NOAA News section which allows users to keep abreast of the latest information concerning the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The site’s main toolbar has links to: Home, About Us, What We Do, Features, Funding, and Products. Each link leads to a wealth of information regarding the topic. For example, the What We Do link leads to links detailing the organization’s four key topics: Education, Fisheries, Habitats, and Observations. Under the education link, users can learn about the organization’s education initiatives such as the Environmental Science Training Center and the Bay Watershed Education and Training Program.
Blue Water Media designed NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office’s website to capture the Chesapeake Bay experience. To achieve this, Blue Water Media added a multitude of photos depicting Bay life and installed a Chesapeake Bay map as the site’s background. Blue Water Media also streamlined users’ search by adding a user-friendly site architecture, intuitive links, and concise descriptions on the homepage. The partnership between Blue Water Media and the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office has resulted in an innovative new website which will surely help protect and promote responsible management of the Chesapeake Bay.
