A case study in global branding, simplicity, and digital.
Austal is a global defense contractor, designer, and manufacturer of defense and commercial ships for governments, navies, and ferry operators. To manage their growing business globally and engage regional audiences, Austal required both a website redesign and modern, secure content management system.
Blue Water’s award-winning past performance in similar engagements instilled confidence in the Austal team and lead to Blue Water being awarded the contract. Blue Water established a strategy to create a corporate site and three strategic sub-sites with their own unique domains. A new site architecture improved cohesiveness and the overall user experience of navigating the site.
Next, Blue Water implemented a new content management system which allows for easy updates for administrators, and greater flexibility in site maintenance. Blue Water also supplied web programming, hosting, maintenance and SEO services to support the overall redesign.
The new architecture plan has made the site easier to navigate, further contributing to a rewarding exchange in user performance and experience. Users are able to easily find what they need – ships, case studies, even research to support their decisions. In addition, the focus on SEO has resulted in a 46% increase in visits and a 43% increase in page views since the launch.
In 2016, the Austal site won a silver Baltimore Addy in the Business-to-Business website category and won IMA Best in Class Awards in the categories of 'Transportation' and 'B2B'.
