The Brief
The exhibition hall at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center attracts visitors from all around the world. However, the digital experience paled in comparison to an in-person visit.
The Solution
Through user interviews, analytics, and heat-mapping, we were better able to understand how people were browsing the U.S. Capitol's wealth of historical artifacts. Through iterative user experience testing and design, we created a new way to experience the Capitol's exhibits online.
Now, with larger-than-life, ultra-high resolution images of the U.S. Capitol's artifacts, the new online experience gives a better-than-ever preview of what it's like to visit to the home of the United States' legislative branch.
Users can now take a walk through the Capitol's history by browsing the new Timeline of Congress and the Capitol. Like never before, a visitor can access the knowledge, stories, and legislation that made the United States of America what it is today.
The Outcome
This new area of visitthecapitol.gov is also optimized for all mobile and desktop devices, greatly improving accessibility.
